Like Water for Chocolate.

Bre: (Summary) During this part of the book is when Tita learns she is not pregnant. Mama Elena had a type of curse over her. When Tita finally stood up to her mother’s ghost the curse was lifted and she was no longer pregnant. Tita breaks off her engagement to John because she still loves Pedro dearly and can not get over him. When Pedro learns of Tita not being pregnant he gets really upset. Towards the end of the book Rosaura and Pedro's daughter wants to marry a man Alex. Rosaura says that since Esperanza is her youngest and only daughter she could never marry. Pedro and Tita have to fight with Rosaura but she stands her ground. But Rosaura eventually dies and Pedro and Tita allow Esperanza to marry Alex. The book comes to a close when Pedro and Tita have one last love affair. The climax was so good that Pedro saw a white light and died. So Tita decided to eat candles to get the same climax and to see the white light, then she dies. The book finally ends with Esperanza and Alex's daughter telling about how her Great Aunt Tita will live on through her cooking.

Blake (Opinion):
The ending of this book was really shocking. For Tita and Pedro to finally being together makes everything peaceful. Until one night their climax rises so far it causes Pedro to die. For Tita to eat candles was very weird because, that’s the last thing I would do to feel the sparks she had experienced with her loved one. To feel the warmth and love that Pedro made her feel. For Tita to die, trying to keep her matches lite with sparks, she also passes away which is also sad because, she was so happy and just tried to experience that feeling constantly made her die happy.
