The Women Warrior Blog Post 2

V-In the third story it talks about how her mother is in the college and how she would be a great student and studied all the time. N-She was very intelligent, students would take turns sitting next to her on exams. V&N-But one night while her and her roommate was having a sleepover. N-They told her about the sitting ghost that was the room at  the end of the hall. N-They told her that no one would slept in that room because they were afraid. N&V-All the paranormal activity happened at midnight. V-When they heard a noise out in the hallway they became frightened, so her mother dared that she would spend the night in that one room. V-And if she were to scream that all of them would go running with all their lucky charms to get rid of the ghost. N-All she took with her was a novel and a knife. N-When she got in the room she started to read the novel. N-She then fell asleep.  N-She was awakened by something big, hairy, and heavy on her chest. She then realized it was the sitting ghost. K- She speaks to the ghost in a strong manner stating that she wasn’t scared and that the ghost would have to do a lot more than the stories tell to scare her away. N-She starts struggling with the ghost and notices that she can’t take the ghost off of her. So she ignores the ghost. Then in sunrise, the ghost leaves and she falls asleep. In the morning, her roommates run in asking what happened that night. She then explains everything that happened and they make a plan to kill the ghost.V&N- They vanquished the ghost by using fire, oil and alcohol.

V- My opinion of this story is that its very interesting and it surprised me how brave she was to spend the night in the haunted room. My favorite part was when they made a plan to vanquished the ghost.
N-  This section of the story surprised me because I think it’s cool how they killed the ghost. The way that Maxine’s mother described the ghost as being big, hairy, and heavy was gross because I imagined it. The ghost didn’t have eyes. I always thought that ghost were see through, but the way Maxine’s mother described it, it’s not.
K- This story in particular is most interesting and surprising to me other than the first.  In this story all of the imagery used to describe things such as the monster, and her life then. The author I believe is fantastic in writing, especially placing herself in so many different aspects in life that to project her life as interesting, which she believes isn’t.
